Feasible construction schedule for Belarusian nuclear power plant

SOCHI, 14 May (BelTA) – It is absolutely feasible to commission the Belarusian nuclear power plant on time, BelTA learned from Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Vladimir Semashko during the Atomexpo forum in Sochi on 14 May.

“The key matter is we have to commission the first unit by the end of 2019 and the second unit virtually half a year later, in 2020,” said Vladimir Semashko.

Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Vladimir Semashko is expected to meet with Rosatom Director General Aleksei Likhachev at Atomexpo today. A similar meeting took place in Ostrovets in early May. Back then the sides discussed the work schedule and critical events, including the loading of nuclear fuel, the commissioning of the nuclear power plant, and the reaching of the output capacity.

“It seems to me we will have to present a report to the Belarus president at the construction site in the near future. We should absolutely be ready for it,” said Vladimir Semashko.
