Early spring planting in Belarus over 88% complete

MINSK, 19 April (BelTA) - Early spring crops have been sown on more than 88% of the designated area in Belarus, BelTA learned from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food.

Spring crops were planted on an area of 849,300 hectares, 35.9% of the target. Early spring grain and leguminous crops (excluding maize, buckwheat and millet) were planted on an area of 542,500 hectares, which is 88.1% of the plan.
 
Spring colza was planted on 13,300 hectares, which is 21.5% of the plan. Sugar beet was planted on 72,000 hectares (69.8%), maize – on 71,200 hectares, 5.81% of the plan. potatoes were planted on 1,190 hectares (7.13%), vegetables on 1,120 hectares (22.3%).

Annual grasses were planted on 104,000 hectares, which is 47.3% of the plan. Flax was sown on an area of 29,500 hectares, which is 59.6% of the plan.
