Central banks of Belarus, Russia discuss current economic situation

MINSK, 20 May (BelTA) – The regular, 44th, meeting of the Interbank Currency Council of the Central Banks of Belarus and Russia took place in Moscow on 20 May, BelTA learnt from the Information and PR Department of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus (NBRB).

Partaking in the meeting was Chairman of the Board of the National Bank Pavel Kallaur, Chairman of the Central Bank of Russia Elvira Nabiullina, other representatives of the central banks of the two countries.

The parties exchanged opinions on the current economic situation and the implementation of the monetary policy in Belarus and Russia in 2016, took stock of the work of the banking systems of the two countries in 2015.

The meeting also discussed both bilateral and Union State balances of payments for 2015, international reserves and foreign-currency liquidity of Belarus and Russia. The parties also shared opinions on the progress made in the implementation of recommendations of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision in Belarus and Russia.
