OSTROVETS, 21 February (BelTA) – The Belarusian nuclear power plant will be commissioned on schedule, Belarusian Energy Minister Vladimir Potupchik said during the session of the ministry's board on 21 February, BelTA has learned.

The first unit is scheduled to go operational in December 2019, and the second one in July 2020. “We have no doubts that this facility will be commissioned in a timely manner. All the organizational measures have been taken. Today, all those involved in the construction of this facility clearly understand what needs to be done, what volumes to be covered. All key activities are scheduled by month and shall be implemented. As the minister, I am sure that everything will be on schedule,” Vladimir Potupchik said.

This year will be largely decisive for the launch of the first unit in 2019. First nuclear fuel will be brought in November. Loading fuel into the reactor is scheduled for the first quarter of 2019. The necessary conditions to store fuel before it is loaded will be created, the minister assured.
