Belarus' young agrarian specialists to do internship in Germany in 2016

MINSK, 19 January (BelTA) – Young specialists of the Belarusian agricultural sector will undertake internship in Germany in 2016, BelTA learnt from spokesman for the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dmitry Mironchik.

“On 14-17 January 2016 Belarus' First Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Leonid Marinich took part in the 8th Berlin Agriculture Ministers' Summit which theme this year was How to Feed Our Cities - Agriculture and Rural Areas in the Age of Urbanization, as well as in the events of the international agricultural fair Green Week. While in Berlin, the Belarusian delegation signed a protocol between the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry and the Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection of Germany on internship in Germany in 2016 for young specialists of the Belarusian agrarian sector,” Dmitry Mironchik said.

According to the spokesman, Leonid Marinich also met with Federal Agriculture Minister Christian Schmidt, Chairman of the German Farmers' Union Joachim Rukwied, German business circles, the farm machinery building concerns KLAAS and John Deere, Riela Company, a number of German consulting organizations. The parties discussed further cooperation between the agrarian ministries of the two countries, organization of training seminars for Belarusian specialists, possible attraction of German investment in the agricultural sector of Belarus, development of cooperation in the farm machinery industry, including the setting up of assembly plants and supplies of Belarusian component parts.

Belarus' First Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food also held a series of meetings and negotiations with the heads of official delegations, Ministers and Deputy Ministers of Agriculture of Moldova, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine, Argentina, Sri Lanka, Algeria, Japan, Afghanistan. They discussed the possibility of increasing exports of Belarusian agricultural products, interagency cooperation, development of cooperation between the veterinary services in the field of education and training in Belarus, participation of foreign delegations in international Belagro expo which will take place in Minsk on 7-11 June 2016.

The Berlin Agriculture Ministers' Summit adopted a final declaration. At the summit Leonid Marinich made a report on the current level and progress in promoting the agricultural development and food production in Belarus, ensuring food security and reaching the world's leading positions in the export of a number of agricultural and food products. Leonid Marinich also outlined the potential and investment appeal of the sector, and the possibility of the international use of Belarus' experience.

Founded in 1926, Green Week is the internationally leading public exhibition for the food, agriculture and gardening industries. It runs in Berlin on 15-24 January 2016. The 125,000 big fair features about 1,700 exhibitors from Germany and more than 60 countries around the world. It is expected that the fair will draw nearly 400,000 visitors, including more than 80,000 specialists.
