Over 50% of spring crops planted in Belarus 

MINSK, 2 May (BelTA) - Spring crops have been planted on 50.9% of the designated area in Belarus, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.

Spring crops were sown on 1,204,200 hectares, which is 50.9% of the plan. Early spring grain and leguminous crops (excluding maize, buckwheat and millet) were planted on an area of 563,000 hectares, which is 91.4% of the target.

Spring rapeseed was planted on an area of 24,000 hectares, which is 39% of the target. Sugar beet was planted on 95,800 hectares (92.9%), maize on 338,200 hectares (27.6%), including grain maize (60.7%), potatoes on 3,950 hectares (23.6%), vegetables on 2,040 hectares (40.6%).

Annual grasses were planted on 124,000 hectares, which is 56.4% of the plan. Flax was sown on an area of 36,600 hectares, which is 73.9% of the plan.
