Belarus, Turkey to discuss intensification of cooperation

MINSK, 12 October (BelTA) – Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei is expected to meet with Turkey's Minister of Development Lufti Elvan on 18 October, spokesman for the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dmitry Mironchik told a press briefing on 12 October, BelTA has learned.

“The parties are set to discuss the further intensification of the bilateral trade, economic and investment cooperation, and also the progress made in the implementation of the agreements reached within the 9th meeting of the Belarusian-Turkish joint intergovernmental economic commission. The meeting was held in Minsk in July 2017,” said the spokesman.

He also noted that Belarus is satisfied with the bilateral trade with Turkey this year. In January-August 2017 the trade between the two countries increased by more than 20% as against the same period last year to total almost $600 million. The Belarusian exports went up by 72.6% to $91 million.
