Belarus, Russia's Ivanovo Oblast outline areas of cooperation for 2016-2017

MINSK, 18 April (BelTA) - Belarus and Ivanovo Oblast of Russia outlined the areas of interaction in 2016-2017, Bellegprom told BelTA following the first meeting of the joint working group on bilateral cooperation.

“We signed a protocol of the first meeting and a plan of action for the development of trade, economic, scientific and cultural cooperation between Belarus and Ivanovo Oblast of Russia in 2016-2017,” informed the press service of the Belarusian light industry concern Bellegprom.

The first meeting was hosted by Bellegprom on 15 April. The event was attended by Bellegprom Chairman Nikolai Yefimchik and Governor of Ivanovo Oblast Pavel Konkov.

Partaking in the meeting on Belarus' behalf were representatives of the ministries of foreign affairs, industry, agriculture and food, architecture and construction, the Belneftekhim Concern. Russia was represented at the event by heads of healthcare, agriculture and food departments of Ivanovo Oblast, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Belarusian Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov and Ivanovo Oblast Governor Pavel Konkov held a meeting on 15 April. According to the Belarusian head of government, Belarus and Ivanovo Oblast need to intensify the development of trading relations. Among the promising areas in the development of trade and economic cooperation the Premier named cooperation projects in the industrial sector.

In 2015 the trade between Belarus and Ivanovo Oblast totaled $72.8 million, 23.1% down from 2014. In January-February 2016 the trade made up $7.5 million, 20.6% up from the same period last year.
