MINSK, 22 September (BelTA) – Belarus is ready to work with China on connecting the manufacturing potentials. Director of the National Agency of Investment and Privatization of Belarus (NIAP) Natalya Nikandrova made the statement during the online conference hosted by the BelTA website on 22 September.
The official said: “We would like to make the Chinese side understand that the key advantage we have today is our geographical position between two major unions in the center of Europe. The position can be exploited. We also say that we have a lot of industrial enterprises in need of modernization. We need new technologies. We are ready to work on connecting the manufacturing potentials.”
Natalya Nikandrova underlined that it is necessary to switch Belarus-China relations from credit cooperation to foreign direct investments. “But in order to get the process started, it is necessary to determine mechanisms and forms of cooperation with the Chinese side. It is what will be discussed in the near future, arrangements will be made, agreements will be signed,” said the official. “It is important to understand whether those will be merger deals or public private partnership or some subcontracting construction. There are many opportunities. It is necessary to give concrete proposals that could satisfy the Chinese side.”
