Belarus, Kyrgyzstan mull over joint milk producing company

BISHKEK, 28 June (BelTA-TASS) – Belarus and Kyrgyzstan are looking into the opportunity of setting up joint companies to produce milk and dairy products and also process wool, Head of the Food Security Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation of Kyrgyzstan Zhumabek Asylbekov said on 28 June.

“Belarus mainly supplies dairy products to our country, and we are putting forward a proposal of setting up joint companies on our territory to reduce prime costs,” said Zhumabek Asylbekov.

This issue was discussed at an expert meeting of the bilateral intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation in Bishkek on 28 June. Attending the meeting was Belarus' Agriculture and Food Minister Leonid Zayats.

Apart from that, the meeting discussed cooperation areas in cattle breeding and seed production. “In the previous years we supplied seeds to Belarus and we are ready to resume our partnership,” Zhumabek Asylbekov said.

Experts also discussed Belarus' exports of agricultural equipment to Kyrgyzstan to the total amount of $20 million. A part of the equipment will be assembled at Bishkek's Avtomash Radiator. “We will coordinate our positions on agricultural supplies under a leasing scheme. Agricultural equipment will be provided in the form of an investment loan,” Zhumabek Asylbekov stressed.
