Belarus' Hi-Tech Park new resident company to set up self-driving vehicle test site

MINSK, 16 February (BelTA) – Belarus' Hi-Tech Park has registered another resident company, the international tech firm Intelligent Equipment, which will develop, test, and market eco-friendly autonomous cars using new energy sources, BelTA learned from Kirill Koroteyev, First Deputy Director General of the Industrial Park Development Company.

In line with the agreement, the investor will build an R&D center with a total area of more than 30,000 square kilometers in 2018-2020. The project is estimated at around $5 million.

According to Kirill Koroteyev, today autonomous cars are the highest point reached in the application of artificial intelligence.

The world's leading corporations are involved in the production of self-driving cars. The emerging technology is expected to start developing rapidly in the next two years. The revenue in this sector will hit the $2 trillion mark in the next decade.
