Belarus harvests over 3.5m tonnes of grain

MINSK, 10 August (BelTA) - Belarusian agrarians have already cropped more than 3.5 million tonnes of grain, BelTA learnt from the Agriculture and Food Ministry.

As of 10 August, Belarus' grain harvest exceeded 3.5 million tonnes. Brest Oblast harvested 964,100 tonnes, Minsk Oblast – 784,200 tonnes. Gomel Oblast and Grodno Oblast cropped 605,400 and 620,000 tonnes each. The harvest of Mogilev Oblast reached 401,300 tonnes, Vitebsk Oblast – 210,700 tonnes.

A total of 1,001,800 hectares, or 46.1%, of areas under crops have been harvested in the country. As of today, Brest Oblast remains the leader: the region has cropped 77.7% of the total area.

This year, the average yield makes up 35.8 centners per hectare.
