Belarus' gas transit commitments unaffected by Yama-Europe pipeline maintenance

MINSK, 7 June (BelTA) – Maintenance of the Yamal-Europe gas pipeline will not affect Belarus' commitments to transfer natural gas, BelTA learned from OAO Gazprom Transgaz Belarus representatives.

The situation has no bearing on the Belarusian side's obligations concerning the transit of Russian natural gas, BelTA has been told.

The Yamal-Europe long-distance gas pipeline crosses Belarus among other countries. Its operation was suspended on 7 June for the sake of scheduled maintenance. They are working at a gas measuring station at the Polish-German border. The maintenance is expected to take 48 hours. Gas transportation will be resumed in full at 9:00 on 9 June.

Another stage of maintenance operations at the Yamal-Europe gas pipeline is scheduled for August 2016. The natural gas compressor station Mallnow near Frankfurt an der Oder, Germany will undergo maintenance then.
