Belarus Finance Ministry sees no need in additional borrowings this year

MINSK, 29 September (BelTA) – The Finance Ministry of Belarus sees no need for more borrowings, including on the domestic market, until the end of 2016, Belarus' First Deputy Finance Minister Maksim Yermolovich told media on 29 September, BelTA has learned.

“If we speak about the budget balance in part of foreign currency flows needed to honor the public debt, then the goal is defined in Decree No.78: we should take measures for unconditional fulfillment of obligations and conduct the necessary volumes of restructuring. I do not see or expect any other risks for this year. There is no need in some emergency borrowings, including on the domestic market,” Maksim Yermolovich said.

In his words, the work to prepare deals for next year has already been launched. “It also pertains to the European capital market, and our relations with the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development (EFSD) in the implementation of the joint program of the government and the National Bank. We continue our cooperation with the IMF. Here the Finance Ministry has big hopes for the positive development of the process,” said Maksim Yermolovich.
