Belarus' deputy PM visits Luninets District to review status of harvest campaign

MINSK, 4 August (BelTA) – Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Anatoly Kalinin made a working trip to Brest Oblast on 2 August, BelTA learned from the government's press service.

The trip started with meetings with citizens at the Luninets District Executive Committee to hear out their complaints and requests. The deputy prime minister gave instructions regarding the shared construction project, the opening of an outpatient clinic in the village of Lakhva, and the construction of a roadside service facility on motorway M10.

Anatoly Kalinin also visited the agricultural companies Redigerovo-Agro and Gorodoksky based in Luninets District to review the status of the harvest campaign and the operation of grain drying facilities.

As many as 79 combine harvesters were involved in grain harvesting in Luninets District on 2 August. By the time Anatoly Kalinin visited the district, local farmers harvested some 5,900 hectares, or 28.5% of the areas under crops. The gross harvest was 16,900 tonnes of grain, with the average yield at 28.7 centners per hectare. One combine harvester harvests approximately 248 hectares of grain crops and grain legumes on the average. There are 15 grain cleaning and drying facilities and 37 grain dryers in the district. Twenty of them use local fuel. The deputy prime minister gave relevant instructions while visiting the agricultural companies.

The working trip finished with a visit to the state-run crushed stone manufacturer Granit. Anatoly Kalinin and top executives of Belarusian Railways discussed ways to boost the supplies of products to both domestic and foreign markets.

Anatoly Kalinin is set to visit Baranovichi District, Gantsevichi District, Ivatsevichi District, and Lyakhovichi District (Brest Oblast) on 5 August to review the status of harvest campaign.
