Two medals for Belarus on FINA Swimming World Cup 2018 Beijing day one

MINSK, 2 November (BelTA) – Belarusian swimmers won two medals on the first day of the FINA Swimming World Cup 2018 in Beijing, China, BelTA has learned.

Silver was collected by Evgeny Tsurkin who clocked 50.84 seconds to touch in second in the men's 100m butterfly. Zhuhao Li of China won the heat in 50.74 seconds. Third was Keita Sunama of Japan (50.88).

In the men's 100m breaststroke Ilya Shimanovich came in third in 57.10 seconds. Zibei Yan of China finished second in 57.01 seconds. Kirill Prigoda of Russia clinched gold with 56.61 seconds.

Nikita Tsmyg finished fifth in the men's 200m backstroke.

The FINA Swimming World Cup 2018 leg in Beijing will last through 4 November. Athletes will then compete in Tokyo (9-11 November) and Singapore (15-17 November).
