MINSK, 19 July (BelTA) - World number 134 Aliaksandra Sasnovich of Belarus made it into to the Hungarian Open semifinal, defeating world number 137 Suzan Lamens of the Netherlands, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4, BelTA has learned.
The Belarusian will face Slovakia’s world number 79 Anna Karolina Schmiedlova for a spot in the final. In the opener Aliaksandra Sasnovich saw off world number 49 Viktoriya Tomova of Bulgaria, 2-6, 6-2, 2-4, and then proved stronger over Russia’s world number 103 Maria Timofeeva, 6-2, 6-4.
In the ITF USA opener in Evansville Belarus’ Iryna Shymanovich beat Kristina Penickova of the USA, 7-6 (8-6), 7-5. In the second round Iryna Shymanovich beat world number 375 Clervie Ngounoue of the United States, 7-5, 6-4. In the quarterfinal the Belarusian will take on India’s world number 318 Sahaja Yamalapalli.
In the Porto Open, Belarus’ world number 421 Evialina Laskevich will play world number 195 Gabriela Knutson of the Czech Republic.
At the Challenger Pozoblanco Belarus’ world number 265 Egor Gerasimov will face Spain’s world number 388 Miguel Damas of Spain for a spot in the semifinal. Earlier, the Belarusian proved stronger over world number 751 Nicolas Alvarez Varona of Spain, 7-5, 6-7 (5-7), 6-1 and defeated Bulgaria’s world number 1,005 Alexander Donski, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.
