MINSK, 11 March (BelTA) – Belarus’ world number one Aryna Sabalenka put in a clean performance to cruise past Italy's World No.62 Lucia Bronzetti, 6-1, 6-2, to reach the Indian Wells third round, BelTA has learned.
The Belarusian will next play world number 83 Sonay Kartal of the UK for a spot in the quarterfinal. In the opener Aryna Sabalenka took down world number 48 McCartney Kessler, 7-6(7-4), 6-3. In 2023 Aryna Sabalenka reached the Indian Wells final where she lost to Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina.
The previous edition was won by Iga Swiatek of Poland. This year’s tournament will be over on 16 March. The winner will earn $1.2 million and 1,000 points.
