MINSK, 2 January (BelTA) – In light of the nationwide observance of the Year of the Belarusian Woman, the Belarusian Ministry of Labor and Social Protection presented several insights into the lives of Belarusian women, BelTA has learned.
In fact, there are more than 4 million women over the age of 18 in Belarus, whose active participation drives social progress.
Belarusian women of working age have one of the highest employment rates in Europe, reaching 84.8%.
“Another key trait is the ability of our women to balance professional and family life. Nearly half a million working women are raising underage children. Women also make up a substantial share of entrepreneurs. In fact, they account for nearly half of all state grant recipients for launching a business,” the ministry said.
At the same time, Belarusian women are dedicated mothers. “The state values their maternal role: mothers with many children in Belarus qualify for an early retirement pension, and time spent caring for children is covered by labor protections,” the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection emphasized.
