Hanna Huskova, Uladzislau Gancharou named Athletes of Year 2018 in Belarus

MINSK, 28 December (BelTA) – Olympic champion (Aerials) Hanna Huskova and trampoliner Uladzislau Hancharou were named Athletes of the Year 2018 in Belarus. The traditional poll among journalists was conducted by the Sportivnaya Panorama newspaper, BelTA has learned.

In February 2018 the Belarusian aerials skier won gold in the Ladies' Aerials at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang. Uladzislau Hancharou demonstrated stable performance in the international arena throughout the season and won gold medals at the world and European championships, and the World Cup in the synchronized events together with Aleh Rabtsau.

According to the media, the Top Ten of 2018 also included Darya Domracheva (biathlon), Anastasiya Prokopenko (modern pentathlon), Aryna Sabalenka (tennis), Volha Mazuronak (athletics), Elvira Herman (athletics), Nadezhda Skardino (biathlon), Maksim Nedasekau (athletics), Aliaksandra Sasnovich (tennis).

Minchanka Minsk was named the best team of 2018 after finishing second in the 2018 CEV Volleyball Cup. The women's biathlon quartet (Nadezhda Skardino, Dzinara Alimbekava, Iryna Kryuko and Daria Domracheva) was named the best team for winning gold of the Olympic Games in Pyeongchang.

Nikolai Kozeko (Aerials) was named Coach of the Year 2018. The Top Three also included Viktor Goncharov (volleyball, Minchanka Minsk) and Viktor Goncharenko (football, CSKA Moscow).

The Sportivnaya Panorama newspaper held the poll for the 60th time.
