Domracheva happy with her daughter’s performance in Snow Sniper debut in Raubichi

MINSK, 13 February (BelTA) – Darya Domracheva has commented on her daughter Xenia’s performance in the sprint at the final stage of the Snow Sniper national biathlon competition, BelTA has learned.

The daughter of multiple Olympic champions Darya Domracheva and Ole Einar Bjørndalen, Xenia Bjørndalen, is competing in the youngest age category (born 2015-2016) in Raubichi. In the 1.8km sprint race, the young athlete cleared both shooting stages without a miss and finished fifth, missing a medal by just three and a half seconds.
“When Xenia was out on the course, I was very nervous. After the finish, I told her she did a great job. Everything was great, we are very glad. Right now, the result isn’t what matters most, it’s the atmosphere and the spirit. Overall, we have wonderful impressions and the organization is excellent,” Darya Domracheva said. “Before the start, I could see that many of the children were nervous. Crowded stands are great support for the children, but at the same time, it adds pressure. I think today was a valuable experience for everyone, filled with positive emotions. I hope the children who didn’t make the podium will continue training with enthusiasm.”
On 15 February, the final day of Snow Sniper, young biathletes will compete in 9 races. The program features six mass starts and three mixed relays. The first race gets under way at 9 a.m., with the final event starting at 2 p.m.
