
MINSK, 7 April (BelTA) – Belarusian athletes will compete in the 2025 European Wrestling Championships that is kicking off in Bratislava, Slovakia on 7 April, BelTA has learned.
Taking part in the event will be more than 450 athletes who will compete for medals in 30 weight categories. Belarus will field 26 athletes who will compete under the UWW flag.
Among Belarusians competing in freestyle wrestling on 7-9 April will be Aryan Tsiutryn (57kg), Dzmitry Shamela (61kg), Islam Guseinov (65kg), George Koliev (70 kg), Yahor Akulich (74 kg), Mahamedkhabib Kadzimahamedau (86 kg), Yaraslav Iadkouski (92 kg), Aliaksandr Hushtyn (97 kg) and Dzianis Khramiankou (125 kg).
The women’s wrestling event will be held in Bratislava on 9-11 April. The Belarusian team will comprise Natallia Varakina (50kg), Viyaleta Rebikava (53kg), Aliaksandra Bulava (55kg), Iryna Kurachkina (57kg), Alesia Hetmanava (59kg), Veranika Ivanova (62kg), Krystsina Sazykina (65kg), Alina Shauchuk (68kg), Viktoryia Radzkova (72kg), and Anastasiya Zimiankova (76kg).
Greco-Roman wrestlers will compete for medals on 11-13 April. The Belarusian team will feature Hleb Makaranka (63kg), Aliaksandr Liavonchyk (72kg), Maksim Shedz (77kg), Ilya Bitseyeu (82kg), Ihar Yarashevich (87kg), Kiryl Maskevich (97kg), and Dzmitry Zarubski (130kg).
At the 2024 European Wrestling Championships in Bucharest Belarusian athletes won seven (2, 1, 4) medals.
