MINSK, 1 October (BelTA) - Competition has begun for Belarusian athletes in the trampoline discipline at the 3rd CIS Games in Azerbaijan, BelTA has learned.
The men's individual qualification round featured 21 athletes from six countries, including four Belarusians. The victory was secured by two-time Olympic champion Ivan Litvinovich with a score of 65.25 points. His teammates Andrei Builou (63.80) and Stanislau Yaskevich (62.08) placed second and third, respectively, while Sebastsyan Stankevich finished sixth with a total of 61.03 points. According to the event regulations, only the top performer from each country advances to the final; therefore, only Ivan Litvinovich will compete for a medal on Friday.
In the women's qualifying tournament, Belarusian athlete Iana Lebedeva (58.05 points) claimed the top position, narrowly edging out her compatriot Katsiaryna Yarshova by just half a point. Viyaleta Bardzilouskaya (55.71) and Zlata Miniakhmetova (55.11) placed fifth and sixth, respectively among 22 participants. The final featuring Iana Lebedeva will also be held on 3 October.
Tomorrow, the trampolinists will compete for medals in the men's and women's team events.
