
MINSK, 25 August (BelTA) – On 26 August, the Belarusian Communications and Informatization Ministry will issue an envelope with a commemorative postage stamp to celebrate Belarusian Written Language Day, BelTA learned from the ministry.
The Day of Belarusian Written Language has been celebrated since 1994 on the first Sunday of September and holds a special place among the key events in Belarus’ cultural life. Every year, a different city is chosen to be the center of celebration. The first festivities took place in the ancient city of Polotsk. Since then, the holiday has been celebrated in many other historically significant cultural centers of the country. The 32nd Belarusian Written Language Day will be hosted by the city of Lida.
The project was prepared in cooperation with Belarus’ Information Ministry and the Lida District Executive Committee.
A ceremony to cancel a commemorative postage stamp will take place in Lida at Post Office No. 1 on 6 September.
