Soyuzny TV channel goes live

MOSCOW, 1 April (BelTA) - A new television channel, Soyuzny, has begun broadcasting in Belarus and Russia, BelTA has learned.
The channel is part the Media Company of the Union State, replacing the BelRos channel. “The new channel will broadcast 24/7 in Russia and Belarus via cable, satellite, OTT platforms and on the internet across all available resources: VK, VK Video, VK Clips, OK, MAX, Telegram, and beyond,” the Media Company said.

"We will build our broadcast based on the real needs of our viewers. We will be guided by the principle that Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko recently articulated: in the construction of the Union State, Belarus and Russia proceed 'from life itself.' This is why our heroes will not only be officials, but also cosmonauts, athletes, scientists, and people who have lived through the war, those whose stories truly touch and unite people. The key task is to make things official feel human. The Union State is millions of living connections between people. Our mission is to show the Union State not as a project, but as life itself,” Yekaterina Abramova, Director of the Media Company of the Union State, said on the eve of the channel's launch.

On the very first day Soyuzny offers a historical podcast, documentary films shared by the Belteleradiocompany, ONT, STV, Mir, RT, and the Russian Znanie society and also feature films. Daily, in the afternoon and evening,it will air news programs every two hours, along with 25-minute in-depth interviews, while in the evenings it will show  feature films and TV series. Notably, the Belarusfilm studio has provided a large selection of its films from its golden collection for broadcast on Soyuzny.

The Media Company was established in accordance with a resolution by the Supreme State Council of the Union State dated 29 January 2024 and Resolution “On the Reform of the Media of the Union State” by the Council of Ministers of the Union State dated 5 November 2024.

The main goal of the company is to create a unified information landscape of the Union State. Its objectives include the production and distribution of television, online, and print materials about life in Belarus and Russia, the covering of integration processes, shared history, culture, and technologies.
