Refugees stuck at Belarusian-Polish border to get tonnes of food, water from Belarusian authorities

MINSK, 10 November (BelTA) – The Belarusian side will deliver several tonnes of food and water to the refugees, who are stuck at the border. Secretary General of the Belarusian Society of the Red Cross Dmitry Shevtsov mentioned it on the air of the Belarusian TV channel ONT, BelTA has learned.

The official said: “No single public organization can organize things fast today. Aid from the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus and from the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee is very important in this regard. Thanks to them we intend to hand over more than 2 tonnes of meat products, about 5 tonnes of water, about 1 tonne of bakery products as well as clothes and hygiene products via the Red Cross.”

In his words, with assistance of the upper chamber of the Belarusian parliament and municipal authorities the Belarusian Society of the Red Cross has already delivered about 100 food packages and 300 liters of water, warm clothes, and sleeping bags to the refugees.
