MINSK, 4 November (BelTA) – Poland is planning to reopen two checkpoints on the border with Belarus, Polish Minister of the Interior and Administration Marcin Kierwiński, according to Polish media.
Poland has not abandoned its plans to reopen two border checkpoints on the border with Belarus, Marcin Kierwiński said on the air of a local television channel on 4 November. “The prime minister announced that two border checkpoint in Podlaskie Voivodeship will reopen within the coming weeks. And we are ready for it,” he noted.
On 28 October Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that the government would be ready to reopen two border checkpoints with Belarus in Podlaskie Voivodeship by November. He noted that the checkpoints Bobrowniki and Kuźnica would be reopened in a “trial mode” following consultations with Vilnius. Meanwhile, on 30 October, Lithuanian Prime Minister Inga Ruginienė stated that the opening of these border checkpoints was being postponed. According to her, such an agreement was reached after her negotiations with Tusk. Polish government spokesman Adam Szłapka later announced that an agreement had been reached to reopen the border checkpoints “around mid-November”.
As it has been reported, the Kuźnica border crossing was closed in November 2021, and the Bobrowniki checkpoint was closed in February 2023.
