MINSK, 14 November (BelTA) – Polish authorities have begun building a second barrier on the border with Belarus in Podlaskie Voivodeship, Polish media reports.
Installation of the fence is expected to start in the coming days, with completion planned for January. The barrier will consist of a four-meter-high metal mesh wall, with barbed wire laid along its base.
In 2022, Polish authorities erected a 5.5-meter-high metal barrier along a 180-kilometer stretch of the border. The wall was topped with barbed wire, while motion sensors and all-weather cameras were installed along the entire frontier. In 2024, modernization work was carried out on the structure.
