MINSK, 13 February (BelTA) - A photo exhibition dedicated to the heroic deeds of border guards who served in Afghanistan opened in Minsk on 13 February, BelTA learned from the State Border Committee of Belarus.
Prior to the Day of Remembrance of Internationalist Soldiers, the State Border Committee and the Belarusian State Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War organized a photo exhibition about participants in the Afghan War titled “I Remember It Like It Was Yesterday…” The project was presented to visitors during a thematic meeting dedicated to the anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan. Students from the Minsk Cadet School, military-patriotic classes, and veterans attended the event.

The project’s author, Sergei Karzhitsky, saw his idea come to life as the border agency’s press service created a series of portraits featuring border guards who served in Afghanistan, each accompanied by stories from their time in the war.
The exhibition will be running through the end of February.
