MINSK, 21 February (BelTA) - The day before the start of early voting, the referendum commissions accredited 44,296 national observers and 131 international observers, BelTA learned from the Central Election Commission.
The majority of observers (31,644) represent public associations: 9,439 –FTUB trade unions, 5,017 – BRSM Youth Union, 4,963 - Belaya Rus public association, 4,235 - Belarusian Women's Union.
Political parties have sent 2,087 observers by now, of whom 1,222 are representatives of the Communist Party of Belarus.
A total of 6,312 observers from labor collectives and 6,953 citizen observers have been accredited as of today.
As for international observers, 116 have been sent by the CIS observation mission, including 36 by the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, 12 by the central election authorities of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and 3 by the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
The process to accredit observers continues.
