MINSK, 29 September (BelTA) – No mobilization is in progress in Belarus. All the military reserve training events are scheduled ones, the press service of the Belarusian Defense Ministry told BelTA.
According to the source, all the reserve training events are scheduled and have been stipulated by dedicated legislation in advance. Military registration and enlistment offices continue following their daily routine.
In peacetime military registration and enlistment offices are supposed to recruit reservists for refresher training from time to time. The draft notices the military registration and enlistment offices send to citizens order them to participate in scheduled events. The Defense Ministry said there is no need for mobilization in Belarus. All the existing threats and challenges are being neutralized by the current state security and military security system.
The Defense Ministry reiterated the reasons why Belarus citizens can be summoned to a military registration and enlistment office. Among other things men can be summoned in order to join active military service. Belarusians can also be summoned in order to go through medical evaluation, which determines their fitness for military service. Citizens can also be summoned in order to be sent to army units.
Draft notices can be sent to persons eligible for military service, who are supposed to participate in annual refresher training events: reservist officers, non-commissioned officers, sergeants, and soldiers. The military training events can be organized by the army, territorial defense bodies and units, other military units of Belarus.
The Defense Ministry remarked that reservist officers have been summoned for annual scheduled draft in line with the decree the Belarus president signed on 24 February 2022. Apart from that, notices can be sent to summon citizens to go through scheduled medical examination for prospective draftees, to update information about their place of residence, about the place of work, and about the marital status.
