Narrow-format meeting of Eurasian Intergovernmental Council underway in  Kyrgyzstan

MINSK, 14 August (BelTA) – A narrow-format meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council is taking place in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan, BelTA has learned.

Belarusian Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin, currently on a working visit to Kyrgyzstan, is participating in the session.

Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan – Head of the Presidential Administration Adylbek Kasymaliev welcomed the Belarusian prime minister in his capacity as Chairman of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council. He noted that this marks Aleksandr Turchin’s first Eurasian Intergovernmental Council meeting, and it coincides with Belarus’ presidency in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). Adylbek Kasymaliev wished the Belarusian prime minister success in this responsible position, expressing confidence that his professionalism and vision would advance sustainable development both domestically and across the Union.

“Today, in this narrow-format meeting, we will discuss matters of critical importance to our Union. I believe that our collective efforts and decisions will instill confidence in our nations’ future while advancing integration processes within the Union, boosting economic growth and improving the living standards,” stated the chairman of Kyrgyzstan’s Cabinet of Ministers.
The Eurasian Intergovernmental Council will hold meetings in the narrow and expanded formats on 14 and 15 August respectively. The agenda includes 20 discussion items. The heads of government of the Eurasian Economic Union member states are expected to discuss the approval of a program to promote exchange trading on the common exchange (organized) commodity market, amendments to the action plan to implement the coordinated (harmonized) transport policy in the EAEU for 2024-2026, as well as the concept for developing common markets for medicines and medical devices. In addition to that, the heads of the delegations are set to meet with Kyrgyzstan’s President Sadyr Japarov.
