Minsk to celebrate Moldovan spring festival on 1 March

MINSK, 22 February (BelTA) – The State Museum of the History of Belarusian Literature invites the public to take part in Martisor, the Moldovan celebration of the beginning of spring, BelTA learned from the museum.

The visitors to the museum on 1 March will be able to enjoy performances by the Moldovan music group Plai, the children's dance group Lume, solo performers and representatives of the Moldovan diaspora. In addition, there will be a tasting of Moldovan national dishes and a master class on making a Martisor amulet. There will also be a themed photo zone, an exhibition of woven carpets, embroidered towels and national costumes.

“The festival will kick start a joint project Under the Common Sky of Belarus of the museum and the Center for National Cultures timed to the Year of Historical Memory. Visitors will be introduced to the cultures of various ethnicities. Moldova has become the first country which culture will be celebrated,” the museum noted.

The event is held jointly with the public association Community of Moldovans and the Embassy of Moldova in Belarus.
