MINSK, 15 January (BelTA) – Hotel occupancy rate in Minsk during the New Year and Christmas holidays exceeded 70%. Three- and four-star hotels were in high demand, Vitaly Gritsevich, deputy director of the tourism department at the Sport and Tourism Ministry of Belarus, said at a press conference, BelTA has learned.
“During the winter holidays, the occupancy rate in Minsk hotels exceeded 70%. This is a rather good figure. Most popular among tourists were three- and four-star hotels. In view of the upcoming European Games due in Belarus in 2019, the National Tourism Agency has updated several itineraries around Minsk, first of all around sports facilities of Minsk, including the new facilities which will be used during the games,” Vitaly Gritsevich said.
Minsk has been featured in several prestige tourism rankings. For example, the Belarusian capital was named a must-visit European destination in 2019 by the British newspaper The Independent. Minsk also topped the ranking of the most popular CIS cities for winter trips of Russians compiled by the Turstat analytical agency.
