MINSK, 29 October (BelTA) – The top three most in-demand destinations among passengers of Minsk National Airport were announced by the airport’s Director General Vladimir Chereukhin at a press conference to mark Civil Aviation Workers’ Day, BelTA has learned.
Moscow holds a leading position in terms of passenger traffic. In January-September 2025, more than 780,000 passengers traveled on this route.
St. Petersburg ranks second with over 240,000 passengers, while Dubai takes third place with more than 177,000 passengers. Istanbul, Tbilisi, and Baku are also among the top destinations.
Overall, Minsk National Airport reported positive passenger traffic dynamics: in January-September 2025, it increased by 2% year-on-year.
“We are seeing growth across all indicators. Aircraft departures have risen by 3.5% and cargo volumes have surged by 46%. This year, we launched air service at the Mogilev Airport branch. We also saw growth in cargo transportation at the Orsha branch,” Vladimir Chereukhin said.
Minsk National Airport currently works with 10 airlines. The majority of flights are operated to and from the Russian Federation. The route to China is also gaining momentum. “Compared to 2024, passenger traffic and the number of flights have almost doubled,” the airport’s head added.
The airport’s main partner is Belavia, which accounts for over 66% of passenger traffic. Most foreign carriers are represented by Russian airlines: Aeroflot, Pobeda, and Red Wings.
New destinations are opening with the introduction of long-haul aircraft. “We are reviewing and planning work to expand infrastructure related to passenger services. This includes renovation of the terminal complex and apron. We also plan to purchase new equipment for servicing these aircraft,” Vladimir Chereukhin said.
