Minister: Many members of self-exiled opposition want to come to Belarus and repent

MINSK, 21 February (BelTA) – Many representatives of the self-exiled opposition would like to return to Belarus and repent, but they are afraid to do it, Belarusian Minister of Internal Affairs Ivan Kubrakov told the STV TV channel, BelTA has learned.

In his annual address to the Belarusian people and the National Assembly, Aleksandr Lukashenko invited the self-exiled opposition to come home and repent. “There are many people who want to do it, but they are afraid. After all, these people betrayed their country at a certain point and left. Among them there are also former members of the law enforcement, although I really would not like to call them that. They understand very well that they are not needed in the West, they are not needed by their curators. Most likely, they will start returning little by little in the near future. As the president said, come back, repent, serve a well-deserved punishment and live peacefully after that,” Ivan Kubrakov stressed.
