MINSK, 23 December (BelTA) – The Latvian Government has decided to extend the enhanced security regime on the border with Belarus for another six months, Latvian media report.
This regime has been in place since 2023 and has been repeatedly extended. This time, the government prolonged the enhanced border control measures until 30 June 2026.
“The corresponding decision was made by the governmen on Monday, 22 December. The current regime is in effect until 31 December 2025,” the statement reads.
As specified, the enhanced border security regime will apply in Ludza and Ludza Municipality, Kraslava Municipality, Augsdaugava Municipality, Daugavpils, and Kaunata of Rēzekne Municipality.
