MUSCAT, 15 December (BelTA) - Belarus and Oman are planning to launch a direct flight, possibly as early as February 2025, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maksim Ryzhenkov told the media on the sidelines of the working visit of the Belarusian president to Oman, BelTA learned.
“Nothing drives forward relations better than human ties. We have finalized some agreements today. One of them will provide an opportunity for Belarusian tourists to visit Oman without a visa for a period of 14 days. They will have their passports stamped at the airport for free,” the minister said.
According to him, there are also plans to open a direct flight from Belarus to Oman. “We are yet to iron out some technical aspects. All the approvals have already been passed,” Maksim Ryzhenkov said.
He believes that this will have a very serious impact on tourism relations between the two states. On the one hand, there is a lot to see in Oman in terms of natural beauty and historical heritage, local traditions. On the other hand, the direct flight and relaxed visa requirements will bring about more business opportunities. “As a matter of fact, all this creates a basis to move the relations further,” the minister said.
When asked by BelTA when exactly the direct flight might be launched, Maksim Ryzhenkov said: “Once the technicalities are settled, the project might go ahead as early as February.”
