MINSK, 26 March (BelTA) - Political analyst, military expert and former Israeli government official Yakov Kedmi shared his opinion on the posthumous trials of Nazis and their accomplices in Belarus in the latest episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
The discussion turned to the topic of bringing to justice the perpetrators guilty of the genocide of the Belarusian people. Prosecuting Nazi criminals is one way to counter their glorification. In addition, trials help to provide the full picture of crimes against humanity committed by the Nazis and their accomplices. “There is a well-known saying: a nation that does not remember its past has no future. If Belarusian people want a healthy future, they need to study their history and expose all atrocities against people and humanity,” Yakov Kedmi said.
According to the expert, it does not matter how a Nazi criminal died, whether by execution or natural causes. “Whether they died naturally, were shot or hanged, they are criminals. Just as a country must know its heroes, it must also know its killers, its criminals. Just as heroes are honored posthumously, criminals must also be labeled as murderers posthumously. Moreover, they had no distinction between their people and others. They killed everyone,” he stressed.
