"On Point"
MINSK, 13 October (BelTA) - Color revolutions in the post-Soviet space no longer work, editor-in-chief of PolitRussia, political scientist Ruslan Ostashko said in a recent episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
He is convinced that in such situations, the authorities must show determination and pay no heed to criticism from Europe. “There's no need to mollycoddle, because Europe, which used to wag its finger at everyone warning against taking measures to quell the protests deals with its own protesters three times more harshly," Ruslan Ostashko noted.
When commenting on the events in Georgia, the political scientist noted that color revolutions in the post-Soviet space no longer work. The expert emphasized: "Because those against whom these color revolutions are directed, namely the sitting government in a given country, understand perfectly well that there is only one way to deal with protesters. That way is the language of force. The language of force, in accordance with the laws of the respective country. In Ukraine they tried to mollycoddle the 'Maidan fanatics,' the so-called students ('they're just children'). Today other countries will not do this. Georgia is a clear example of this.”
