Experience of recent armed conflicts at heart of Belarusian-Russian staff exercise

MINSK, 18 March (BelTA) – Chief of the General Staff, First Deputy Commanding Officer of the Air Force and Air Defense Command of the Belarusian army, Major-General Andrei Gurtsevich praised actions of the personnel in the course of planning military actions and praised proper fulfillment of all the missions during a joint staff exercise, which took place on 16-18 March, representatives of the Belarusian Defense Ministry told BelTA.

Personnel representing the Western Military District, the Southern Military District, and the Central Military District of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation took part in the staff exercise. Participants of the exercise had to plan the deployment of forces in a defensive operation of the Belarusian-Russian regional military force, the relocation of aerial units of the Russian Aerospace Forces to Belarusian airfields, control over units belonging to the joint regional air defense system, and the protection of the western border of the Union State of Belarus and Russia in the air during a defensive operation.

The planning took into account the experience of combat actions in Syria and Nagorno-Karabakh. The joint staff exercise allowed improving the cohesion of military command and control bodies, military units, and training levels of the officers.
