MOSCOW, 22 October (BelTA) - The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) is working on two agreements on intellectual property rights protection, Ernar Bakenov, Director of the Business Development Department of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) told a press conference, BelTA has learned.
“Two draft agreements have been prepared. The first concerns approaches to protecting intellectual property rights on the internet. The second agreement is on the development of search services for industrial property objects registered in the member states,” said Ernar Bakenov.
According to him, both documents will be useful for both rights holders and the authorized bodies of the EAEU states.
The EEC representative also announced the development of a common digital system for registering trademarks and geographical indications. “It will help rights holders ensure the protection of their rights across the territories of all member states,” he said.
According to Ernar Bakenov, since the beginning of this year, nearly 1,500 intellectual property rights violations have been recorded in the EAEU, with over 6 million units of counterfeit products seized.
