CSTO to improve crisis response forces, create biosecurity system

MOSCOW, 9 February (BelTA) – The CSTO will improve the crisis response forces and create a biosecurity system, CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas said at the conference “Collective Security in a New Era: Experience and Prospects of the CSTO” that is taking place at the Moscow headquarters of the Valdai Discussion Club with the support of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 9 February, BelTA has learned.

“First of all, we will test the crisis response system. We need to be able to quickly and effectively use the existing potential in any conditions and in any place in our area ofresponsibility,” Stanislav Zas said.

“We are set to keep strengthening the collective system, our collective defense systems, increasing their readiness to carry out their tasks. At the same time, priority will be given to the collective rapid response forces and peacekeeping forces,” the CSTO secretary general stressed.

“We intend to improve the crisis response system. We will step up our efforts to counter terrorism and drug trafficking. We want to build up capabilities in information security and cybersecurity. This year we are to proceed to the practical stage of a new type of activity – biological safety,” the CSTO secretary general added.
