MINSK, 21 May (BelTA) - Belarus is in favor of aligning the formats of the SCO, EAEU and BRICS, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Minister Sergei Aleinik said at the meeting of the SCO Foreign Ministers Council in Astana, Kazakhstan on 21 May, BelTA has learned.
“In addition to constructive work within the association, the potential of the SCO as a significant subject of international politics is important for Belarus. We are particularly impressed by the fact that the SCO concept includes a policy of non-directiveness against third parties, rejection of ‘bloc thinking”. It is important for Belarus that the organization unites countries aimed at developing a multipolar, equitable and inclusive world order, opposing interference in the internal affairs of sovereign states, the application of double standards and unlawful unilateral sanctions. Guided by the idea of integration of integrations, we are in favor of aligning the formats of the SCO, EAEU and BRICS, as well as strengthening cooperation between the SCO and the CSTO,” the minister said.
According to him, the issues considered in the SCO in the field of security, economy and humanitarian cooperation are relevant not only for one region, but also in a wider geographical context.
“Our country is ready to be actively involved in the coordinated work of the SCO family and make a real contribution to increasing the international authority and influence of the organization,” Sergei Aleinik said. “We aim to fill the SCO work with new practical content and fresh ideas, using all the experience and potential of Belarus.”
