Conference in Vitebsk to discuss regional development in digital age

VITEBSK, 21 October (BelTA) – Scholars from five countries will gather for a conference in Vitebsk to discuss the social and economic development of regions and companies in the age of economic globalization and digitalization, BelTA learned from Vitebsk State Technological University, the organizer of the conference.

Vitebsk State Technological University has been hosting a cycle of conferences on regional development since 2001 and attracted a wide range of academics, government officials, businesses and organizations. The university decided not to interrupt the tradition this year amid COVID-19 but to organize the forum by correspondence.

The organizing committee has received more than 120 reports from scholars and researchers from 34 research centers of Poland, Ukraine, Latvia, Russia and Belarus. The participants of the conference have been offered to evaluate the development of regions and companies, interregional and international cooperation in the age of economic globalization and digitalization. The conference will look into the areas of development and methodology for assessing the digital potential of companies, regions and countries, and discuss the possibilities of digital transformation of the financial and manufacturing sectors of the economy, labor market and education system.

The conference will also examine the achievements of science and the real economy sector in promoting digital transformation of certain industries, in particular, finance, logistics, marketing, accounting and statistics, innovation policy, and also the development of a high-tech cryptocurrency trading platform in Belarus.

The agenda will also include the issues regarding the HR transformation in the digital age (including the use of AI technologies in HR), trends in human resources development, transformation of the education system in the context of digitalization.

The organizing committee informed that the reports that have successfully passed the scientific examination and review will be included into the program of the conference and published in the collections of reports and scientific articles and posted on the website at https://nic.vstu.by/ and in the Russian Science Citation Index database.

The organizers of the conference are the Department of Economics and Business Management of Vitebsk State Technological University and the Education Ministry of Belarus.
