MOSCOW, 17 June (BelTA) – The CIS Anti-Terrorism Center (ATC) has opened its headquarters to mark the 15th anniversary of the organization. This CIS organization moved to Moscow downtown on 17 June, BelTA informs.
According to head of the center Andrei Novikov, the new building is equipped with cutting-edge engineering and information systems able to secure safe and efficient operation of the ATC. The building provides all necessary conditions for work, including information sharing on the latest developments, the current situation in the CIS member states in what concerns anti-terrorist security.
Andrei Novikov expressed confidence that the conditions created at the headquarters would add a powerful impetus to the elaboration of adequate effective measures against terrorist threats.
According to Andrei Novikov, the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center was set up in 2000 following the decision of the CIS heads of state. In his words, this organization has developed into a modern international headquarters to combat terrorism over the past 15 years.
Attending the ceremony were heads of the delegations of the security and special services of 10 CIS states. Belarus was represented by KGB Deputy Chairman Oleg Chernyshev.
