MINSK, 17 November (BelTA) - The Central Election Commissions of Belarus and Russia have signed a cooperation agreement, BelTA has learned.
The document was signed by the Chairman of Belarus' CEC Igor Karpenko and Chairwoman of the Russian CEC Ella Pamfilova. In fact, this is an updated agreement, since the CECs of the two countries already have contractual relations. But the new agreement will bring this cooperation to a new level.
"The agreement provides for the exchange of information and interaction in terms of analysis of electoral legislative and regulatory legal acts, examination and enforcement of electoral law, studying each other's experience and, accordingly, conducting internships. There will be workshops of those who participate in the organization of an election campaigns. This creates conditions for bringing the work on organizing election campaigns to a new qualitative level," said Igor Karpenko.
The signing ceremony was held at the National Library in Minsk on the sidelines of the Belarusian-Russian forum "Youth and Elections". The event has been organized by the Central Election Commission and the Education Ministry of Belarus.
"The forum is an idea of young people. They raised professional questions at the forum. The young people are versatile in law, have a certain experience. In the future these people will help raise legal awareness among young people," the head of the CEC emphasized.
Earlier, during his visit to Moscow, Igor Karpenko invited his Russian colleagues to visit Belarus. Ella Pamfilova accepted the invitation. This is her first visit to Belarus.
