Center of Europe 2020 literary competition underway in Polotsk

VITEBSK, 10 February (BelTA) – The 3rd edition of the open international literary competition The Center of Europe 2020 has kicked off in Polotsk, deputy head of the Polotsk District centralized library system Anna Potseluikina-Vrublevskaya told BelTA.

Authors from various countries who write in the Belarusian or Russian languages are invited to take part in the competition. It comprises the categories Poetry, Flash Fiction, Literary Translation, the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, and In the Language of Yanka Kupala and Yakub Kolas.

The first stage of the competition is remote. The application period will last through 20 April. After that the jury will shortlist the best works. Their authors will be invited to the second stage. It will take place in late May during the City Day celebrations. The program will be busy and will include the Poet-Artist competition, meetings, presentations, discussions, and master classes. Apart from the awards ceremony, the finalists will be able to take part in readings, book fairs, and master classes in poetry.

The competition is a biennial event. The previous edition featured 215 participants from 12 countries, including Russia, Georgia, and the UK. The event is organized by the Polotsk District centralized library system and the city literary studio The Center of Europe with the support of the Polotsk District Executive Committee.
