MINSK, 5 September (BelTA) – During the Collective Security Treaty Organization exercise Eshelon 2025 [Echelon] military personnel practiced medical evacuation involving the use of railway transport, representatives of the Belarusian Defense Ministry told BelTA.
Chief of the Military Medical Office of the Belarusian Defense Ministry Boris Spassky said that as part of the special exercise Eshelon 2025 they practiced the use of railway transport for the medical evacuation of wounded and sick people. “The acquired experience will allow making balanced managerial decisions and optimizing the system of medical evacuation. In particular, we practiced the possibility of creating military temporary ambulance trains. These temporary medical units are designed to evacuate the wounded and sick over small distances. The crew of every train consists of 33 people, including three doctors. The temporary ambulance train is fitted with all the necessary medical equipment and consumable products to provide emergency aid and care to patients during transportation,” he stressed.
Boris Spassky remarked that the approach will allow promptly and efficiently providing medical aid, particularly in conditions when other modes of transportation are unavailable or impractical. “The railway network covers a large territory of the country, which makes it an ideal solution for medical evacuation,” the officer concluded.
