MINSK, 9 September (BelTA) – Missile air defense and air force units of the Belarusian army and the Russian one have begun their joint combat alert duty as part of a recently established center for the combat training of air force and air defense units of Belarus and Russia, the Belarusian Defense Ministry told BelTA.
The solemn ceremony took place in an airfield of the 61st Fighter Air Base of Belarus' Armed Forces. The duty units of the Belarusian army and the Russian one will watch over the air border of the Union State of Belarus and Russia together. At the same time specialists of the air defense missile troops also went on combat alert duty in a western point in the country.
The establishment of the combat training center is supposed to improve professional training, let students examine samples of new hardware, which may enter service with the Belarusian army soon, and improve practical skills of Belarusian and Russian military personnel.
The center's establishment is expected to allow enhancing the practical component of the joint regional air defense system of the Union State of Belarus and Russia.
